Exploring knowledge and behaviour patterns related to sustainability
Abstract
Sustainability and education for sustainability play a key role in today’s society. Teacher training and “being a teacher” are particularly important in educating and shaping the environmental awareness of the rising generations. Antecedents of our survey were that environmental and sustainability contents play a key role in our trainings, and we have monitored the results of similar research. In our research we aimed to learn about respondents’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours about sustainability in six target groups. The areas of the research were the UN 2015 Sustainable Development Goals that can be related to sustainable living. For our survey, we chose the method of written questioning, and the evaluation of the results was performed using descriptive statistical methods. Based on the results, we have developed stimulating, attitude-forming programs that can also be used in education. In the antecedent of our study, we focused on examining attitudes about sustainability. This publication deals with the analysis of knowledge and behavioural patterns related to sustainability in relation to the six target groups.
